**ADOPTION PENDING**
9-14-07 update: my foster mom says I am really comfortable in my foster home and need to find my forever home soon. You would think that as cute as I am that someone would have scooped me up but everyone is afraid of me since I am blind. I try to assure everyone that I don?t let this stop me and my foster mom says she forgets I am blind. I run, play, chew on toys, go for walks, play with the kids and other boxer in my home and terrorize whoever I can. In other words, I am a normal boxer boy! Won?t you give me a chance?????
06-16-07 update: Abner is ready for his new home. He has had his bad eye operated on and it is now healed. His foster mom says he is the sneakiest dog she has seen. He gets loafs of bread off the counter, steals the kids toys, eats oranges, and is a typical adolescent boxer. She says his blindness is not a handicap at all and if you didn?t know he was blind, you wouldn?t realize it at first. He has an amazing personality despite his hardships and loves to play with squeaky toys. If you are ready for an active, playful male boxer, Abner is your man!
04-04-07 update: Abner met with the Ophthalmologist today and was diagnosed as completely blind. His other eye developed problems and nothing can be done to correct what the abuse he suffered caused. Despite this he continues to thrive and the doctor was impressed with his personality. He is even more happy, carefree and energetic. He will need to go to a home with another dog to act as his eyes. He will continue in his obedience training till adopted and the new home will need to complete classes with him also. Abner is ready to go and is looking forward to meeting his new home! Will that home be yours????
This little fawn boy was turned into the local Humane Society as a stray. He is in very poor condition and will more than likely loose one of his eyes. Due to his medical needs, boxer rescue was called in to help him. Not much is known about him yet other than despite his vision issues and numerous injuries, he has a very sweet personality and was even trying to give us the classic boxer kidney bean wiggle. If you are interested in adopting this boy, feel free to submit an application but his available date is not known at this time.
