Update 4-15-11: Asia is ready to go home. She is a playful girl with an easy-going personality. As you can see from her 3-24-11 update, she is a typical Boxer that loves to entertain. She is healed, vetted, and is just waiting for the right home to come in and sweep her up! Is that you?
UPDATE 3-24-2011: Asias foot is completely healed, and she is ready to be adopted. She gets along great with the male and female Boxers and little yorkie in her foster home. She still has quite a bit of puppy left in her. She plays hard and loves playing with ropes and balls. She is potty trained and goes to her crate on command. She has some funny quirks. She is very vocal when she wants attention and she snorts(like a pig) a lot. She is also a loud snorer. Shes a sweet Boxer girl who needs a forever home!
2-10-11 update: Asia was seen by the vet this week and the cast was removed from her leg. Despite this, she is still on crate rest for another month to continue to allow healing of her foot. As already indicated, due to the crate rest, we have not been able to completely assess her personality. Hopefully the second week of March her crate rest will be lifted and we can finally see what sort of home would be best for her.
update 2-4-11: Asia is still not ready for adoption. Anyone familiar with Boxers knows how hard it is to keep one still for healing, and Asia is no exception. Despite crate rest and activity restriction, she has managed to still be active enough to hinder the healing of her foot. And chewing her cast off is not helping. Due to her crate rest and medication, we have not been able to completely assess her personality. What we do know is she is a typical active, stubborn boxer.
Jan. 2011: Asia was transferred to us from a local animal control after she was never claimed. She suffered some type of foot injury before coming to animal control. Our vets at Springfield Veterinary Center determined that Asia has a broken foot. She has been put in a splint for the foot to heal, has been brought current on her shots, placed on heartworm and flea prevention and found to already be spayed. Asia will have some healing time ahead of her but once she is better, she will be ready to go to her forever home. Look for updates from her foster home.
