FOSTER UPDATE 4/13/10: What a wonderful boxer girl Chiefie is. She is housebroken & has not had one accident in the house. She is completely crate-trained. She will go into her crate on command - eats & sleeps there, although she would love to have a home where she could sleep on a pillow next to your bed.
She’s really good with both of the foster homes dogs & the cats -- this includes having her faced licked compulsively by a Boston Terrier; being walked on, slept on & licked by one of the cats & occasionally swatted at by the other. She would love to have another dog to play with. I think this is a girl who could easily go to a dog park or doggie day care & have a great time. She also loves to go for walks & is excellent on a leash.
Her only bad habit is that she will beg for food while you are eating. We have been working on that & she is getting better about going to lay down. Her food allergies have been resolved by a change of dog food. She is currently eating Natural Balance Reduced Calorie & is doing great on it. She would need to be fed that or another natural type of food that contains no corn or wheat.
Chiefie is pretty much the perfect boxer & the ultimate easy keeper – housebroken, crate-trained, good with other dogs (male, female, boxer size, boston size), cats, will play when you want to, will just hang out if that’s what you want, walks great on a leash. I haven’t had the chance to kid test her but I can’t imagine her not being good with them as well.
Intake: Meet Chiefie. She is a 6-7 yr old flashy fawn boxer girl looking for a new forever home. Her elderly family is moving into an assisted living facility & can no longer care for her. She has only been in her foster home for 2 days but so far, shes an easy keeper. She is housebroken, crate-trained, good with both male & female dogs & ignores the cats. She does seem to have some food allergies but we are working on that. She is also a little fluffy but we are going to work on that as well. She is just a delightful boxer girl who could fit in many different kinds of families.
A physically fenced yard is required.
