**FOSTER UPDATE 01/15/08**
Henri has been a foster in my home for a little over a month. He had some accidents in the house during the first few weeks, but we treated him for a UI, and I?ve learned how to tell if he needs to go outside, so things are better now.
He crates as easily as any dog I?ve ever had, as he is very food oriented and knows he gets a treat when he goes in his kennel. I?m working on getting him to slow down when he eats. He needs to be told to wait or he?ll nearly pull the bowl down out of my hand. He will often take treats quickly, too. For this reason, I think he might be better placed in a home without small children.
Henri may fuss for a minute or so when he?s kenneled for the night, but then quiets right down and sleeps until I wake him in the morning.
Though he does occasionally initiate play with my dogs, he is just pleased as punch to curl up beside a human to watch TV. He absolutely loves to receive affection. He would thrive in a home with someone able to give him a lot of one-on-one time.
Henri was tested and we found he was low thyroid, but he?s taking medicine and is now in the normal range. Thankfully the medication is inexpensive (less than 10 cents a day), as he will likely need to take it the rest of his life. He takes the pills very easily.
Henri counter-surfs and so that?s something we?re trying to stay on top of.
Henri is probably about 2 years old and is what we refer to as a "black" brindle. Very dark with only a little white on his toes and chest.
