**FOSTER UPDATE 4/22/07**
Last week, I took Doc to an Elementary School with me to visit my Little Sister. (I joined Big Brother/Big Sisters earlier this year). This is one GOOD DOG, especially around kids. He hop-a-long?ed right in the gym and was very polite for all the kids that came up to pet and hug on him. He got in a few good face cleaning licks, but didn?t try to crowd, pounce or box anyone. When it was time to sit down for snacks, he laid down on the floor at the end of the table and just
looked around.
I was VERY impressed with his behaviour and he won over everyone there. Kids and adults alike. :)**

**Foster update 04/09/07**
I?ve not had Doc around any very small dogs, but the few cats he?s come across, he expressed mild curiosity but no aggression or intense awareness. A firm "no kitty" keeps him from further investigating.
He?s a very polite dog with my older female. He shares treats and doesn?t try to steal her food. He eats faster than she does, but never once has he tried to push her from her bowl, or even go near her while she?s eating.
My 6 and 7 year old nephews have been here several times in the past few weeks and he LOVES playing with them, but I?ve caught him running up behind them and pouncing, nearly knocking them down. I respond with a Drill Sgt worthy "NO" and he immediatly stops and looks repentant. It?s only happened a few times, and in the height of play when the boys are running around. However, it may be something to consider when looking at a home with smaller kids. He LOVES to lick, cuddle and crawl in your lap. Disposition is not a problem. ;).********

Doc is a 2-3 yr old flashy fawn male that has not had much good happen in his short life. Not only is Doc heartworm positive since his owners apparently couldn?t afford $5 per month, but he was also hit by a car. The damage and subsequent infection was just too much, so Doc lost his back leg; but don?t let that fool you. This is a wonderfully active young boxer that has stolen the hearts of all the medical staff that he has come into contact with.
Doc should be completed with his treatment and recovered from his surgery and ready for adoption around Sept 1.
