Description
1/9/05 Elmo is doing great! He has decided that he LOVES playing with our male this last week. They will play non-stop for over an hour - with occasional drink breaks of course! :) Our female feels a little left out, but she pipes in there every once in a while too. He is also putting on some weight which is making him look fantastic!

Elmo has shown that he knows how to have a good time and exert some energy...but he is quite the cuddler, and loves to keep you warm at night too! Maybe he’ll be able to keep you warm at night sometime soon!

12/21/05 - Well Elmo is certainly coming into his own. He is doing much better with our dogs and is finding his personal comfort level in the house. He has free reign of the lower level of the house at night, but has recently decided that he would much rather be upstairs with the rest of us. After a little whining, he will settle in on his dog bed and sleep the night through. This boy loves to snuggle though..give him the opportunity and he will quickly forget that he is a whomping 70 pounds (and still trying to fill out) and climb up on you as though he were a little chihuahua.

As mentioned he is doing much better with our dogs as well. He does not have complete free reign, most of the time upstairs is spent on a leash to ensure that when they do the ’boxer’ play, that we can be in total control in the event that our dogs gang up on him. Fortunately, he is now appearing to be much more submissive during play time and will usually just walk away if our dogs get a little over zealous. :)

I feel that Elmo would be fantastic with children..although, I would recommend older children only because he does not seem quite aware of his overall size. :)

Everyday Elmo becomes a little more comfortable and opens his shell a little more. I hope that he will find a home with someone special that can love him enough to keep him that way!

12/8/05 We picked up Elmo a few days ago, and let me just say, he has certainly grown into our hearts since his short time with us.

Elmo came to us with some room to grow into his body - it was quite apparent that he has spent some time without food. He eagerly snarfs up anything we put in front of him, so I would guess that he will fill out quite quickly. Due to his eating habits he will have to be put on a scheduled feed - otherwise he would eat until he was ill!

It is unsure at this time how Elmo is with other dogs. He is still separated from our two boxers until he is fully adjusted to our home. He has, in a few cases shown signs of food agression, so it is recommended that he be fed away from other dogs. However, we have no problem removing food from him while he is eating.

This sweet boy was loved at one time - it shows every time you touch him. He responds amazingly to attention and would love to sit on the couch with anyone that would allow it. We spend every evening snuggled up on the sofa watching a little TV. For as much of a couch potato as he is, he is also very capable of getting excited and wanting to play.

Overall, this is one sweet little guy that just ended up in an unfortunate situation. Hopefully, you will be able to make his life whole again, by providing him with the love and attention he needs and deserves!

------------------------------------------------

Elmo was abandoned and left in the cold without adequate food and water. His foster home is fattening him up for his forever home! Elmo is starving for love, too and is very affectionate. He is about 4 years old.
