Description

Heidi is still just a sweetheart and melts everyone’s heart that she meets, don’t let her mushy little face fool you though - she is all boxer and she can be a little onery when she wants to. She has selective hearing at times and she likes to play "find the kitty". Because of her extreme interest in fluffy things - she should not go to a home with kitties or small dogs with fluffy hair. I don’t think she would hurt them - but would drive them insane by constantly tailing them and being in their business. I think she would be fine with smaller smooth coated dogs - but the family would have to be prepared for the first week or so to be a little hectic as she gets used to them.
Heidi loves kids and is a very polite treat taker - which is great for younger ones. But she is a youngster herself and will sometimes jump up when she’s excited (we’re working on this).

**FOSTER UDPATE 11/23/05**
she is a wonderful little girl. She’s small -about 43 lbs. She is well behaved, she knows some commands, she is a loving little snuggle bug that wants nothing more but to sit in your lap
and watch TV. She is a boxer though and she can run through the yard like nobody’s business. She can hop and bound with the best of them. At this point, she is still too interested in cats, she is redirecting, but it takes more than one NO KITTIES. She kennels well, but will sometimes turn around quickly and butt her head out, but she eases up and gets comfy in the kennel quickly. She never whines or barks. She can be
left for 8 hours at a time if needed. She has only growled once and that was at a VERY BIG TALL guy that came into our house, but by the
end of his visit she was kissing him. Housebroke....I wouldn’t gurantee it, she hasn’t squatted in the floor or anything - but with
4 of them here, somebody always has to go out, so she doesn’t have much of an opportunity to have an accident. She had one accident in the middle of the night right after she was spayed, someone didn’t get her kennel door latched and when we got up to let Foster out at 3:00 am, she came walking around the corner. She had left us a
little present in the living room.
Her leg is much better. Dr. C said that her gait is off a little but wasn’t concerned about it. I’ve noticed after a rough day of play, she holds it up more. And sometimes she holds it up anyway.
I’d say she’s 90/10 on it’s usage. She sits funny, more on her rump than her haunches and probably always will. She may always have a
limp and she may have issues in cold weather.
She gets along fine with Maggie and Foster - I think Foster is a little sweet on her personally. :-) And she’s silky soft.
On the Perfect scale - she’s a 9 in my book and that’s just cause nobody’s totally perfect. ***

Heidi is probaby around 18months old and was surrendered to us by a veterinary clinic after she was hit by a car and the owner could not afford her care. Her rear leg is stablized in a cast and though she may limp as she gets older, we are hopeful that the stablization process will work and she will be able to keep her leg. Heidi is in a foster home with other dogs; cats and older children. Small children are unknowns to her.
