Description
|
FRIDAY WILL BE ADOPTED BY HER FOSTER MOM as soon as we get the final health clearance. It has taken awhile, but she is finally healthy.
Foster update 8/9/05**
She is doing much better. Her fleas are gone. The sores on her face are almost gone, and hair is starting to grow back on her bare spots from the mange. She knows "sit" and "speak", and ’stay’.
She hasn’t had one accident, not even in her crate. She is great with the kids, and ignores our little dogs. She stares at the cats, but
looks away when told to and leaves them alone. She doesn’t jump up on people, either. She does well on lead, but could use an obedience class to polish her skills. We haven’t had her & Tate together yet, as he still wants to dominate her and we don’t want to do too much too soon. She doesn’t seem to know what toys are, so we are letting her figure playing out at her own pace. She is such a nice girl.
She does have separation issues, even when we crate her in the same room with us. We are working on it, and she is slowly getting
better. She resists going into her crate, and we are working on that, too. ***
Friday is probably between 12-18mo’s old and a flashy fawn female that was never reclaimed from the pound. She will be treated for the demodectic mange and should be available to a new home sometime in September. She is being assessed in her foster home for her abilities to get along with other dogs, cats and kids. Stay tuned for updates.
**She’s a mess - mange, fleas, filthy, stinky, skinny - but a real sweetheart.
We gave her a bath, which didn’t help much with her smell. I just finished brushing her with a TOOTHBRUSH for about an hour, to get out
the loose hair & dead fleas. She loved it. Probably 1/4 of the fleas were still alive. I Frontlined her, and gave her the first dose of
her antibiotic. Her poor face is covered in sores, which she scratches open regularly.******
