Eliza is doing very well. Her coat is looking much healthier now. It
has a nice sheen to it. She’s even getting some new hair growth where
she had the nasty fly bites on her ears. Her weight is good and she
looks very strong.

**Foster home update 11/22/05**
Eliza is making slow progress with her crating "issues." She is now staying in a wire kennel during the day, and she’s not trying to tear it up. She will go in voluntarily for her food or for treats. She barks 5 - 10 minutes when she first goes in, but settles after that.
I had her kenneled in the wire kennel while company was here Sunday for about an hour. She barked about the first 15 minutes, but calmed
later to just occasional intermittent barking.
For the most part she is using the bell to notify us of her desire to go outside. She has never made a mess in her kennel. However, she still has an occasional "accident" in the house, so housebreaking is not quite complete.
She is very jealous of attention given to Trixie and Utah and frequently tries to butt in. She does not care to share her food with the other dogs, and will let them know as much.
She likes to have a playmate, but will need a home where she can be the boss dog.**
Eliza has a condition called cardiomyopathy and takes daily medication to help strengthen her heart muscle. We cannot predict how long her life will be, but there are no guarantees with any dog. She is an active girl who knows when she needs rest. And though her heart muscle may be weaker than some, she has an abundance of love in that heart to give the right family.
Eliza is an approximately 1-year-old ’classic’ fawn female with a slim white stripe between her eyes. Eliza was left tied to a chain in a yard of an abandoned house in a large urban area. Eliza had tried to jump the fence; and was found ’dangling’ from her chain. Thank heaven officers acted promptly to save her.
