**Update 1/6/06**
Lex has recovering nicely from his mange. When Lex first came to his foster home, his feet with swollen, cracked and bleeding, making walking very painful for him. He also had open sores that were breaking open and bleeding. His foster home has certainly been through the ringer with him, but it’s all paying off. Lex is feeling better and they are seeing his clownish personality coming through. ***
Update 11/03/05 - What a difference in Lex. His pictures say it all!! He is almost through with his treatment for mange and looking great.
Update 7/31/05 - As you can see from Frank a.k.a. Lex’s newest picture, his mange is pretty bad and much worse then we were lead to believe. He has landed in his foster home and is doing well. His skin is in pretty rough shape and he’s got a pretty bad infection. His paws are swollen and it’s painful for him to get around, but he’s a lover and his foster family has nothing but positive things to say about him. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
Frank was picked up running stray in a small central Nebraska town. No one came to claim him, but the animal control officers had taken a shine to him and kept him around in hopes someone would come for him or want to adopt him. Unfortunately, no one showed up. So far, Frank is a happy-go-lucky guy who seems to get along with other dogs, but he’s been in a shelter situation, so he’ll need further testing. Additionally, Frank appears to have a mild case of mange that we have begun treating, but additional treatment will be necessary. We know nothing about Frank’s past and he is currently still at the shelter awaiting his foster home.
