9/25/10 Update:
Joe has now settled in to his foster home, and has proven to be such a nice boy! He is housetrained, crate trained (though does get stressed in it sometimes) and gets along well with his foster sister. Even a visiting male boxer today proved to be a friend.
We think Joe would be a great dog in almost any situation, even for a first time dog owner. If you do not know the joys of a mature dog, you are really missing out. This guy loves to snuggle and really enjoys his people, and his nub-tail never stops wiggling.
Joe should be fine with children given his laid back personality. He is a big guy, so it would not be a surprise if he knocked a little one over by accident (as with most dogs), but I do not think he is the type of dog that will try overwhelm a child with lots of slobber kisses.
Speaking of slobber, that is Joes downside. He is a drooling machine, and when we say drool, we mean drool! It is not constant, but when it happens you will know it.
All in all, Joe is just a great dog, and we cannot wait to see how he does in a forever home!

9/23/10
Poor Joes owner had to move to a retirement center and was unable to take Joe with him. It broke his heart to surrender Joe, but we all know he did the best thing for him.
Joe is 7 years old, and has a heart of gold. He is living very well with a boxer foster sister and loves to clean and groom her face.
He has been around small children and seems to be just fine with them. Cats I think he could do without!!
As we get to know Joe more we will update his profile. Wont you be a guardian angel to an older Boxer who needs a home?
