* *ADOPTION PENDING* *

UPDATE 12.22.09: It is hard to believe this boy came to us with almost no hair. Look at that nice coat! He still has some work to go but is making huge improvements every day. He is house trained, crated trained, and is doing well in his foster home with the other Boxers and Yorkies. He does talk back to you and likes to bark in his crate if he sees you with a water bottle to get you to squirt him. He is full of energy and eager to get going. Keep checking back for updates on his treatment and for when Kennedy will be ready for his forever home.

Update 14 Oct
Just in the short time Kennedy has been in the program, he has told us a little about himself. He is a super sweet boy who loves to play with his foster fur family. He lives with a mini Schnauzer and 3 Boxers and has been great with everyone. He has just found out about toys, and loves to throw stuffed animals around. He is very good at meal time and knows to sit before a treat or a meal. He is doing well in his kennel -- not a fan of the kennel, but he will go in for a treat. Already you can see a change in his mange; his skin is slowly turning a light pink and his eyes are not as runny. You can already tell that he will be a very pretty flashy fawn when his hair comes back in.

10/7/09: Kennedy is a young fawn boy, approx. 9 mos. to 1 year-old, that just entered our program from a local animal shelter. As you can see, poor Kennedys past treatment has not been the best. He has a bad case of demodectic mange, which is not contagious -- but will require long-term treatment at this point. He has already started his treatment, and we will check his progress in about a month. Please note: Our system requires us to enter availability dates in date ranges of 30 days or less, so Kennedy is listed as being available after November 6, 2009. However, Kennedy will not be available for adoption until his skin condition is under control. We currently do not know how long that will take.

Despite having funky skin, Kennedy is a typical young Boxer boy that is full of wiggles and loves to bounce all over. He is a BIG boy, too, as he currently weighs almost 60 lbs. and still needs to put on weight. We know that Kennedy will be one handsome boy once his skin is clear and his coat fills in.

Please keep watching for updated pictures as Kennedy progresses through his treatment. If you are interested in making a donation toward his vet bills, donations can be mailed to our rescue (BSRO), care of Springfield Veterinary Center. Their web site and contact information is here: Springfield Veterinary Center
