UPDATE 4 June:
Mercury has been in dog classes and just last Sunday went on a walk with the rest of the rescue dogs. She has tons of energy and is always happy to see everyone! I really do not think her butt ever stops wiggling! We thought at first she was deaf, but after having her in our rescue we have found she can hear, she just has selective hearing! She is a very silly girl, and is more then ready for her forever home.
========================================
Mercury is a young white Boxer girl, approximately a year old. She is new to our program and should be available for adoption around Dec. 1. Mercury is deaf but will be learning sign language while she is in foster care. We will post more about Mercury as we get to know her better.

11/22/08 - UPDATE:
We have had Mercury about a week now and she is really coming along nicely. She is very comfortable with her human family and is getting more comfortable with her new dog family. Even though she lived with other dogs, she was very unsure of the two boxers we have so it took a while to get used to. She cannot hear us, but can hear a few sounds but nothing is very consistent. She HATES the crate, but we are trying to work on it but she barks and tries to get out as soon as she gets in it. Potty training is coming along very well now that she has figured out that the outdoors is the place to go do it. We have not had any accidents on the floor for 3 days (knock on wood). She loves to run around the back yard with the other dogs and play. She doesnt seem to be interested in chewing anything except bones and dog toys so no problems there. She has no clue how big or strong she is, so we have been trying to work on not jumping on her human "mommy and daddy". She loves kids and seems to know that she cannot be very rough with them. Sweat pea (our female dog) has had to put her in her place for being too rough, but she is learning. I think I might have taught her "sit" today, but we will keep working on it. She still has a little anxiety when looking at you in the face when it comes to commands. She loves to kiss and cuddle though and is very playful. We will keep working with her.
