3/03/08- Sassy Marie is returning to rescue through no fault of her own. This makes us so sad. Sassy is a GREAT girl with a spark and gusto for life who deserves a loving, stable home of her very own. Sassy has been living with children, the youngest being four and a cat and done awesome with everyone. Please consider giving Sassy the forever home she deserves.
UPDATE 12/11/2006: Sassy Marie had an outing to the Dog Park this weekend and met all kinds of new friends!! After her romping at the park, she was exhausted. Check out the most recent pictures of Sassy and the dog park.
UPDATE 12/05/2006: Good News!!! The pathology reports came back on all the "growths" Sassy had removed and every one of them was BENIGN!! This little gal is a trooper and everyone who meets her,loves her. She has personality PLUS!!!
UPDATE 11/24/2006: Sassy had some major surgery this week. She was spayed, had the ugly wound on her hip fixed up and had a couple of small mammary tumors removed. We also learned she had a major infection going on in her gums, so she had a very good cleaning of her teeth and gums. This girl is AMAZING. When her foster mom picked her up the day after surgery, she was a bundle of energy and wiggles!! Two days after the surgery, she was so happy and wanting to play, that her foster mom finally had to put her in her kennel to keep her quiet!! Sassy is such a trooper, we are amazed daily at her good nature and spirit.
Sassy Marie comes to us from a shelter in Eastern Iowa. Right now, we are guessing her to be around 5 years old. This little gal has obviously seen some hard times and been on her own for awhile. Don?t let that little bit of "snow" on her muzzle fool you. This is one spunky chic with a lot of personality!! She has a horrendous open wound on her back. When Sassy was picked up by the shelter, there were actually maggots infested in this wound!! She?s got a few lumps and bumps that we?re going to be having looked at in addition to a couple of "pressure" sores. Someone must have spent some time with her and loved her. She knows sit and shake and with a little encouragement, will do a down. Sassy charmed the workers at the shelter and bought herself some extra time. That?s how we learned about her. Sassy is brand new to our program, so we are still in the "learning" stage, but so far, she is a sweet, sweet dog with lots of love and life left in her!!
