GIDGET In Memorial ~2001 - 10/7/05
We had to have Gidget put to sleep and this was very very hard for the foster family, they both have developed a true affection for Gidget.
But instead of adjusting and settling in, Gidget was just having a harder and harder time doing without her original family and coping with a new home, new dog, etc
Truman and Gidget had begun fighting and separating them with baby gates worked for awhile, on Friday, it did not work, it seemed Gidget was going to go over the babygate, when reached for , Gidget turned and bit her. I am sure Gidget was NOT trying to bite anyone, but that is how frenzied she was about Truman....her list of possible homes has gotten shorter/narrower...
We were willing to wait for a home where she could be the only child, BUT, not if a dog reacts with a bite before "thinking", maybe if it were a privately owned dog and a person wanted to accept that liability, but certainly not for a rescue dog, who must learn to adjust, cope, fit in to new situations.
Again, we are all sad and sorry...... ****
Gidget is a 4 year old white boxer girl that is looking for a new home thanks to the Douglas County Missouri Animal Welfare group and boxer rescue volunteers. Gidget lost her elderly family due to death and hospitalization and has been somewhat lost in a foster home.
