In Memorial 2003-2009
Well, we had been watching him for kidney failure for about the past 1 1/2 years (blood wk every 6 mos and on kd) hed been doing well. He sprain his knee about two months ago and just had a hard time with it. I thought he was depressed because of his leg, just not seeming his self. We gave him prevacox (which made him sick before) but after two days he was SICK. On wed the 30th we got up at 5am and said that something was really wrong with him. We took him to the vet and his numbers were off - she sent us to k-state (we thought maybe the meds ,beings some dogs are poisned by that particular one). Initally they thought his kidneys - not sure from the prevacox or not. So they wanted to keep him the weekend and hydrate him and do ultrasound. Turned out he had a large mass in his belly that was bleeding and she felt it may be attached to a major organ due to its large blood supply,. Probably cancer. :( She did not feel that removing it would be successful due to all the blood. and even it was, his kidneys (she thought) were in failure. Plus he had started having some hip problems. So sadly, we put him down. We go over it everyday if that was the right thing to do , or if we should have brought him home just to see? We miss him - he really was a wonderful addition to our family! He was so gentle and great with the kids! Been looking on your site for another young one. We will keep watching! Thanks for him! You really gave us a good one!

Every so often, we end up with puppies in our program because the momma’s present them to us after arriving, or because they have them with them when they are surrendered.
